Andreas Stamatakakos is an Australian filmmaker, producer, and founder of the Byron Underground Film Festival (BUFF). Drawn to storytelling from an early age, his work explores the intersection of character, place, and the strange corners of human experience.

Over the course of his career, Andreas has worked across narrative, commercial, and documentary filmmaking, including time at Warner Bros. and collaborations with filmmakers such as Jon M. Chu, best known for directing Crazy Rich Asians. His experience spans development, production, directing, cinematography, and post-production, giving him a broad understanding of the filmmaking process from concept through to screen.

As a producer, Andreas has led two feature films and numerous short-form projects that have screened internationally, earning awards and recognition across the festival circuit. His work is often driven by a fascination with people living outside conventional paths and a desire to uncover stories that reveal something deeper about the human condition.

Beyond filmmaking, Andreas founded the Byron Underground Film Festival to champion bold, unconventional cinema and help cultivate a thriving culture of artistic risk-taking within the Byron Shire. Through BUFF, he seeks to create space for emerging and established filmmakers whose work challenges expectations, embraces oddity, and celebrates genuine creative expression.

Whether behind the camera, producing a feature, or building platforms for other artists, Andreas remains committed to storytelling that is adventurous, visually rich, and deeply human.
